FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and it is used as a way of transferring files either from or to a remote computer. In order to FTP, you need to install an FTP program onto your computer.
Installing WS_FTP
1. Download the the file WS_FTP.EXE (670 KB) to a temporary directory on your hard drive. (c:\temp is a common directory).
2. Using Windows Explorer or File Manager, locate the ws_ftp.exe file in the temporary directory where you downloaded it.
3. Double click on the WS_FTP.EXE file. This will automatically launch the program installation. Follow the screen instructions for installing it onto your system.
Configuring WS_FTP:
1. Launch the WS_FTP program by going to Start => Programs => WS_FTP => WS_FTP95LE:
2. Set up your session profile with your domain information to connect to our server! You will want to type in your HostName/Address which will be www.yourdomain.com. The HostType will be Automatic Detect. Then type in the username and password that you gave us when you signed up for the account.
Click SAVE to save your profile. Click the OK button in the Profile screen to connect to our server!
Once you are connected to the server!, you will be placed in your root directory. Double click on public_html directory to go into your main web directory.
3. Once in the remote directory, you will want to double click on the "public_html" folder. This will place you in the correct directory to upload your files too.
